New York, New York!!

(First off, I told you that I wouldn't be very good at this blogging thing!)

Life is way too crazy--at least this year has been and will continue to be. I can't believe how quickly the summer has gone by so far! July has practically come and gone in a blink of an eye for us, but oh man has it been FUN!

We just moved into a new apartment at the end of June (WOO-HOO!) and we're both working a lot. So for the past few weeks, we've pretty much just been moving stuff and organizing and working--time for a vacation right? RIGHT!

Spring went by super slowly because of the anticipation of Tim's and my first trip together. We chose the first week of July to go because:
A-4th of July/Tim's Dad's birthday!
B-Our 1 year Anniversary!!!!! yay! A belated Honeymoon!
C- Tim's 22nd Birthday!

So pretty much, there was a lot going on that week!

Re-cap of the trip? yes!

So, we took off from SLC and landed in Long Beach, CA. What a terrible little airport! hahaha It looked like they went to the nearest trailer park and took some trailers to a big open parking lot. It was hilarious. They kept bouncing our flight departure gate from gate 2 to gate 4 then to gate 1...etc. But in reality, it didn't even matter to us because there were only 4 gates and they were right next to each other so we didn't have to walk from gate to gate.

We finally took off from CA to go to New York (yes, it is a little backwards to go from Utah, to California, then across the country to New York) and then landed at the airport around 5:30 in the morning. It wouldn't have been so bad if it weren't really 3:30 MT so yes, we were sooo TIRED. And we pretty much went straight to church so I fell asleep on Tim's lap during Sunday School.

Now, the high light of the day: Well, first off, it was Fast Sunday. After a few people bore their testimonies, Lakendrick (a mentally handicapped man in his early 20s) got up and sat nest to my father-in-law who was up front waiting for someone to finish at the podium. My father-in-law told us that he saw Lakendrick pull a piece of paper out of his pocket and saw a line that was written on the paper. Apparently, he told Lakendrick that he couldn't read that paper at the podium, but when Lakendrick went to bare his testimony, he pulled out the paper and said "I wrote a song..that I'm dedicating to my "secret admirer-er" who's name is Gracie. She's so nice, and pretty, and beautiful." He paused, then looked at the paper, started nodding his head, then started singing "You think I'm pretty without any make up on, you think I'm funny..." paused again, and looked at the paper. Just as he was about to start singing more of the Katy Perry song, the Branch Pres. jumped out of his seat and started whispering to Lakendrick. After a few minutes, the Branch Pres. sits back down and Lakendrick says "I'm not supposed to sing. So, umm, Amen."

Oh man. I didn't know what had just happened. Gracie was actually sitting 2 rows in front of us and she was so red. It was hilarious. Best Fast Sunday ever!
