Part 2

Ok... so I think we left off after he got my e-mail address.

So Tim and I started e-mailing back and forth. Unfortunately, neither of us have the first e-mails that we sent each other. The one that we regret deleting the most was the e-mail where Tim told me that he liked me. It was CLASSIC!

He was in New Jersey spending the rest of the summer with his dad. He gave me a brief summary of what he and his cousin had done earlier that evening. They had gone to a movie and Tim told me that he had eaten way too much popcorn. (This is where it gets awesome.) Then he told me that he didn't know if it was the popcorn or what, but "I like you." haha how great is that? He had a "popcorn headache." It still cracks me up.

Now, if you know Tim, he's quiet...and not forward at all. I didn't know how to reply. I was still 14 and had only experienced 2 guys asking me out (one in elementary and one in middle school and I had quickly declined both without regret). I spent a day or two....or three contemplating and weighing the outcomes...

Choice A: Tell him I liked him too and not see the kid I liked for a long time... knowing that he'd probably lose interest and move on to like someone else.

Choice B: Tell him I didn't like him and then watch the friendship dissolve because he'd probably lose interest and move on to like someone else.

It looks like a lose-lose situation...because normally, it would've been. I sadly told him that I didn't like him like that. I didn't really expect much of a reply because I knew it probably hurt him. I mean, who has the guts to tell someone they like them and not expect a happy outcome of the person liking them back?

Our Story: part 1

This may take a few posts...

As crazy as it sounds, Tim and my story didn't start once we met. It was years in the making before we ever knew each other. Tim was born and raised in New Jersey and I was born and raised in good ol' Utah.

The first event that happened to bring us closer together was when Tim moved to Fillmore, Utah when he was 8 years old. I was living in Oakley which was 2 and a half hours away from where Tim was. We still weren't on any path to meet until my older brother Mike went to Snow College before his mission. He met Andrea who had grown up in Holden, Utah (which is about 10 minutes from Fillmore). Mike then went on his mission and Andrea went to study at USU.

Mike came home and I'm not sure if he went back down to Snow, but he eventually went to college at USU. I was 12 or 13 when Mike and Andrea were married. They weren't the only ones whose lives were changed by their wedding. I became friends with Andrea's younger sister, Leslie, who was 2 grades older than me.

Not long after in July of 2004, I was invited to go down to Leslie's 16th birthday party. I was 14 (4 months away from being 15) and Tim had turned 16 a week before. I remember meeting Tim, but there were so many people there that I didn't know, so I didn't remember much about Tim. Anyway, Tim hadn't planned on going to the birthday party, but went with his friend who wanted to go because the friend like one of Leslie's friends.

The next day was the Pioneer Days celebration in Holden and Tim and his friend decided to go to the breakfast at the park. I was there with Leslie and her family, then she and I hung out with some of her friends, Tim included.

I went home the next day and was talking to Leslie on-line when she told me that Tim wanted my e-mail address. I was completely shocked.
